Description
Lake Legends is a fantasy fishing game focused on exploration, collection, and progression. Players travel across mystical lakes inspired by Viking, Norse, and medieval themes, catching more than 500 fish species while uncovering environmental lore and hidden stories tied to each location.
The game includes gear collection and upgrade systems, including a gacha-based mechanic to earn fishing gear. As a free-to-play title, Lake Legends combines relaxing fishing mechanics with long-term progression, collectible content, and light narrative exploration.
It was originally a month long student project at Forsbergsskola that eventually became a commercial project when we started Bridge Games Studio.

The Challenge
Creating a mobile fishing game that could maintain player engagement over months required careful balance between progression systems, monetization, and gameplay satisfaction.
The core challenges included:
- Creating a fun and engaging fishing experience
- Keeping the game performant on mobile devices
- Balancing free-to-play monetization with player satisfaction
- Creating enough content variety to sustain long-term engagement
- Keeping up with player demand, feedback, and analytics
- Operating with a small team and limited marketing budget
Although we did manage to find a few dedicated players who really enjoyed the game, the lack of marketing resources hindered our ability to reach a wider audience and sustain player engagement over time.
The Highlights
Despite the challenges, the development of Lake Legends has been a great experience.
Starting off as a simple school project at Forsbergskola where we created a prototype in just a couple of weeks in 2021, and then moving to a more ambitious project in 2022.
Leading to the start of Bridge Games Studio in 2023, with a beta release in 2024 and a full release in 2025 where the game finally released to the public on Google Play and Apple App Store. The game has since been in active development, receiving updates such as a Halloween update, Christmas update, and a new leveling system.
I am so proud of the progress we made in the last 3 years and the game we have today.
I gained invaluable experience in the technical aspects of mobile game development, managing releases, integrating SDKs and plugins, optimizing for performance, and understanding what it takes to compete in the mobile gaming space.

Role
Lead developer. Responsible for developing the entire game, including gameplay mechanics, loot generation, integrating plugins, and gameplay architecture.

- Integrated Firebase Firestore, Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, and Remote Config.
- Created an extensive loot system with thousands of variations.
- Created multiple gameplay systems such as achievements, daily objectives, tutorials, and the main fishing minigame.
- Leveling system with experience points, rewards, and unlockable profile pictures.
- Implemented Unity LevelPlay Ads for rewarded ads.
- Implemented Unity In-App Purchasing for in-game purchases.
- GitHub Actions CI/CD for Android and iOS running on a self-hosted macOS runner
